Rangers enjoyed a trip to the ODEON cinema at Braehead at the weekend to see Disney’s latest film, The Little Mermaid at an exclusive Girlguiding screening.

The Western Division Rangers, who meet in Helensburgh Guide Hall, joined 30,000 Girlguiding members at 103 ODEON cinemas across the UK who took part in the mass screening events on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June.

This spellbinding remake of the Disney classic tells the story of Ariel, the youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and a beautifully spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure and a longing to find out more about the world beyond the sea.

The girls from Western Division Rangers loved visiting the ODEON cinema and watching the new film with fellow Girlguiding Scotland members from across their area. ODEON even replaced the normal pre-film adverts with a bespoke Girlguiding trailer featuring members interviewing cast members at the film premiere, making the experience extra-special.

Rangers leader Alison Ringrose said: “We had such a wonderful time at the screening of The Little Mermaid. It was a terrific opportunity for our Girlguiding units to come together and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon. The partnership between with ODEON has been a fantastic way for us to give the girls a special opportunity.”

Paul Wren, Head of Sales UK & Ireland at ODEON, said: “At ODEON, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Girlguiding, providing unique and exciting

experiences for young girls across the country. We are delighted that the girls had such fun watching The Little Mermaid.”

A unique badge has been created especially for Girlguiding members to mark the event in true Girlguiding style.

Girlguiding and ODEON have been working together for the past six years, providing unique experiences for girls across the UK. The partnership includes special screenings of the latest family-friendly films exclusively for Girlguiding members.

Girlguiding Scotland helps all girls know they can do anything, whether they’re four or 18, or in between. The organisation provides a space for girls to feel safe and accepted, find new friendships, explore and confront the things that hold them back, and have fun doing things they might never have tried before.
