Girlguiding volunteers pose for a photo alongside the Navy

Members of the Royal Navy swapped Helensburgh for heaving lifting when they took part in a charity’s clean-up day.

The seven-strong team travelled from Faslane Naval Base to Girlguiding Dunbartonshire’s Catterburn campsite, near Croftamie, to help get the site ready for the summer ahead.

Girlguiding volunteers from across the Dunbartonshire county welcomed the helpers with plenty of food and a long list of jobs.

The event was organised by Dumbarton Girlguiding leader Sarina Robertson.

She said: “The Navy cleared paths, emptied the wood-shed and did lots of heavy lifting for us.

“They are planning to come back and help us in the future.

“We are so grateful not only for their help, but also for the support of 18 Girlguiding volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help out.

“Our campsite is looking fantastic and we’re ready to welcome Brownies and Guides from across our county for fun-filled holidays.”

Catterburn campsite is available for hire. For more information, visit https://www.girlguidingdunbartonshire.org.uk/catterburn-campsite/
