Dozens of Girlguiding leaders from across Scotland headed to Clydebank for a training weekend.

The One Team event saw 145 Guiders who have key roles within their county team invited to the Golden Jubilee Hotel for an overnight stay on Saturday, October 6.

They enjoyed various workshops across the weekend, plus the opportunity to chat and network with Guiders from across the country.

Catterburn

The event also provided an opportunity to fundraise for Girlguiding Dunbartonshire’s Catterburn site, after the Brownie House was hit by a devastating flood last year. The accommodation has been used as a pack holiday venue for hundreds of Clydebank Brownies since it was built in the 1980s. A rebuilding project will begin next year, and a tombola at the One Team event helped raise £220 towards creating a new Catterburn Activity Centre.

The event was organised by Janice Blair, who is the leader of the 6th Clydebank Guides, and Girlguiding Scotland.

‘Amazing opportunity’

Janice said: “The One Team event was an amazing opportunity for our volunteers to network, share and learn from each other.

“There was a buzz about the whole weekend and fantastic to see the impact it makes with all our volunteers, which, in turn, means our girls get great opportunities too.

“And being able to host it in my hometown was extra special.”

Girlguiding Dunbartonshire is looking for more volunteers to keep its units running. If you can spare a few hours every week, please register to volunteer at www.girlguidingdunbartonshire.org.uk
