Hundreds of Brownies and Girl Guides enjoyed trying new activities during an action-packed day of fun at Catterburn Chaos.

The event, now in its third year, saw 24 units and leaders head to Girlguiding Dunbartonshire’s campsite, near Croftamie, on June 8 and 9.

The girls, ranging in ages from seven to 14, enjoyed inflatables, crafts, Highland games and a circus skills lesson. The Royal Navy’s STEM team taught the youngsters about pneumatics, robotics and circuits, and gave them a glimpse of what the inside of a submarine looks like.

Vahri MacPherson, leader of the 5th Bearsden Brownies, said: “The girls had an amazing time at Catterburn Chaos and all want to go again next year.”

Teamwork

Event organiser Lynne Gibbons said: “We’ve had fantastic feedback from Brownies, Guides, leaders and parents about Catterburn Chaos.

“The event’s success is due to so many people coming together to ensure our girls have the best time.

“From our amazing events team and first aiders to the companies that provide their services, we all unite to put on an amazing event that will create memories for years to come.

“I’d like to thank LA Travel, the Tartan Juggler, GAP Hire, The Fun Experts, the Royal Navy’s STEM Team, leaders, Trefoil members, parents who helped out on the day, and Helen, Isabel and Maggie for keeping the event staff and volunteers so well fed and watered.

“And we can’t forget our Dumbarton Rangers, Aimee and Eilidh for the glitter tattoos, car park marshals Janice and Kirsteen, first aiders Sheena and Kirsty, my sons Mark and Michael, and Lorna for always being a great source of advice and support, and dealing with the welcome desk.

“Finally, the amazing group that is the events team – Alison, Annette, Bronach, Karen, Lauryn, Rona, Sarina and Sheena. They work all year to make our events the best they can be, and over the Chaos weekend, they never stop – I can’t thank you all enough.”

Volunteers Week

Catterburn Chaos took place at the end of Volunteers’ Week, which ran from June 3 to 9. The dedicated week of celebrations honours the millions of people across the UK who volunteer within their communities.
